CLARENCE LITTLETON—1930. He is remembered as a true shooting star. He was a leader on the first State Basketball Championship team in 1930 and made All State for his performance. In the era he played, he is known as the team player originating and perfecting the hook shot which was almost impossible to block. His backhanded shot in the final seconds of the Championship game brought the fans to their feet with a roar and those who saw it regarded it as the greatest shot ever. He later attended Carson Newman College where he played four years, after which he signed and tried out with the Boston Celtics. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970. |
