ROY WRIGHT—1959.

At 6’5’’, he is remembered for his aggressive play on the 1958 State Basketball Champions, making All Region on the way to the State Crown. In 1959 he averaged 21.9 points per game with 15 rebounds per game. His top scoring night was 39 points in 2 ½ quarters of play. He made All District, All Region and All State and was heavily recruited by many schools. In fact, he was the state’s top college prospect and received over 30 scholarship offers, including SEC and ACC teams Florida State, Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Florida and as far away as Oklahoma before deciding on Tennessee. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970.
