23 - Bill Yearout

BILL YEAROUT—1937.

He began his football career as a sub on the undefeated 1934 team, and he played guard in 1935 and moved to the backfield in 1936 and 37 where he played every position. In his 4 years, Lenoir City football won 36 and lost only 5. He went on to become a star at Auburn, serving as Captain of the War Eagles. After WWII, he returned to Auburn as a member of the coaching staff. Bill also showed his versatile athletic talents by playing on the Lenoir City basketball team in 1936. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970.
