JACK ARMSTRONG—1942. He was selected for his football and basketball abilities, playing from 1939-40-41 and 1942. In basketball he was All Tournament in 1942 when his foul shooting sent the game into overtime when he later won the game for Lenoir city. Following WWII, he quarterbacked The University of Tennessee football team that only lost one game and played in the Orange Bowl. He later coached at Oak Ridge High School, winning a state championship and playing havoc with Lenoir City. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970. |
