VAUGHN BROWDER—1912. He was one of the earlier basketball stars when the Lenoir City Panthers were known as the Lenoir City “Cartown Boys”. He played center and was Captain of the 1912 team. He also played baseball and was a member of the track team. After college, He returned to Lenoir city and coached football and baseball. In fact, he was the first football coach in 1916-17. While he was an all around performer in almost any sport, he was selected for his many contributions to the sports program at LCHS. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970. |
