64 - Raymond Williams

RAYMOND WILLIAMS –1958

He played 2 years varsity football and 4 years baseball. In football, he was elected Co-Captain his last year and received the Most Outstanding Player trophy as he scored 76 points during the year. He was selected to the 2nd. team All East Tennessee. In baseball, he was an outstanding fastball pitcher with a low ERA, leading the Panthers to the District Championship. Recognized as one of the fastest athletes to ever play at LCHS, he proved his abilities later in college. Later he played football, baseball and track at Tennessee Military Institute before entering Carson Newman. There, he played football 4 years and was on the track team 2 years. He won the 100 yard dash and the 220 yard dash in 1962 at the Volunteer State Athletic Conference Track Meet. His best time in the 100 yard dash was 9.7 seconds and in the 220 yard dash 21.7 seconds. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006.
