EARL FOX SCHOOL ADVOCATE “Helping kids is better than peanut butter” is how Earl felt about his passion for his long-time work with the youngsters of Lenoir City. In the 1960’s he was instrumental in organizing the Lenoir City Little League program, serving as Commissioner for several years. Later he served as Assistant baseball coach and was color commentator for football radio broadcasts for 19 seasons. In 1998 the newly remodeled football pressbox was officially named The E. Earl Fox Pressbox. Continuing his interest in the school system, he was elected to the Lenoir City School Board, serving 10 years. He was instrumental in adding school computers, construction of the girl’s softball field and the Harold D. Freedman memorial track and field at the middle school. He was also involved in the construction of the Lenoir City Middle School which won the Tennessee School Board Association (School of the Year) award. He served as Chairman of the School Board several times and was appointed as the Chairman of the Little Tennessee Valley Education Association. Little wonder that he was elected a new member of the Hall of Fame. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2007.
