GENE CONNER—1931. He was a starting guard for the 1930 State Championship Basketball team and played outstanding ball. He was named to the second team All State in a time when only 5 players were named to the first team. Lenoir City again had a great team in 1931 and again played for the championship but lost to Cheater County with Conner making the first team All State. He was a spark plug who would never give up or give in. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970. |
