Goal
1: The elementary school will
provide a safe,
nurturing
environment.
¥ A new
outside door has been added to provide access to the office area without being
admitted into the building.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as parents sign in appropriately.
¥ A new drop off system for car drivers has been developed to make student drop off safer and more consistent.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as parents respond to the system.
¥ Mr. Overstreet and Mr. Maloney, along with assigned staff members, coordinate students entering and leaving the building in an orderly fashion. Bus riders are accounted for daily.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as parents respond to the system, and bus rosters will be maintained.
¥ A fence has been added to facilitate car drop off and to designate appropriate crossing areas.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as parents respond to the new system.
¥ A Pre-K playground has been remodeled to make the surface safer for children.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as students are injured during recess, 2005-2006.
¥ Paraprofessionals are riding all bus routes.
Evaluation: Data will be collected, 2005-2006, reporting incidences on busses.
¥ All visitors must sign in and receive a name tag.
Evaluation: The Family Resource Center director is logging and
maintaining volunteers and visitors. An online sign-in has been added.
¥ Daily announcements are made at a specified time which indicates that all parents are to exit the building for classes to begin.
Evaluation: Teaching time has been extended.
¥ Teachers make two positive phone calls to parents annually.
Evaluation: Telephone logs are maintained.

to parents.
¥ Parking places will be provided for parents at Bring Your Parents to School nights and at other meetings.
Evaluation: The number of parents present indicates success in parking at the school.

¥ Mr. Overstreet will initiate coffee with the principal on a monthly basis.

¥ Child care will be provided during parentsÕ meetings.

¥ The Hispanic liaisonÕs hours have been changed to address the needs of the elementary school to translate and to contact parents.
Evaluation: Records will be kept as he/she serves the Hispanic population.
¥ Mr. Overstreet and Mr. Maloney greet students and parents daily as they approach the school.
Evaluation: Data will be collected as parents and students respond to the daily routine.
¥ Grade level Parent Nights
Evaluation: The teachers will keep sign-in sheets for parents who participate in the individual grade parent nights.
¥ Bring a Loved One to School, a Spring activity
Evaluation: Sign-in sheets will be maintained.
¥ GrandparentÕs Day, September
Evaluation: Sign-in sheets recorded 160 participants.
¥ Book Fair Family Night, September
Evaluation: The librarian kept sign-in sheets for parents.

¥ Monthly newsletters sent home to parents
Evaluation: Each home receives a letter.
¥ Parents are serving on the planning committees for Parent Nights.
Evaluation: Sign in sheets and minutes are maintained.
¥ Each teacher sends home a newsletter with items of interest forparents.
