Family Friendly Schools Plan

Goal 1: The middle school will provide a safe, nurturing environment.

• A bullying program will be initiated in the 2005-2006 school year to reduce student conflict

Evaluation: Data will be collected from discipline referrals and teacher discipline notices.

Goal 2: The school will be accessible to parents.

• Mr. Orr will initiate coffee with the principal on a monthly basis to encourage parents to discuss topics of concern.

Evaluation: Sign in sheets will be maintained.

• The Hispanic liaison’s hours have been changed to address the needs of the middle school for the liaison to translate and to contact parents.

Evaluation: Records will be kept as he/she serves the Hispanic population.

• The Family Resource Center coordinates volunteer opportunities for members of the community.

Evaluation: A data base has been established to record the hours and activities of volunteers. An online system has been added.
