Wendy B. Stooksbury

Coordinator of Coordinated School Health

Over the past eight years, I have served as an assistant coordinator to Mary Harding. I fell in love with the job and the work it entails.  Through my training, I am blessed to now be a coordinator with Mary Harding as my assistant.  We make an excellent team, and I look forward to the future and all the work we will accomplish!

Establishing working relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community is a big part of my work environment.  Seeking collaboration among these groups helps drive, influence, and promote the eight components of Coordinated School Health.

Coordinating the many parts to school health into a systematic approach can enable schools to eliminate gaps and reduce redundancies across the many initiatives and funding streams; build partnerships and teamwork among school health and education professionals in the school; build collaboration and enhance communication among public health, school health, and other education and health professionals in the community; and focus efforts on helping students engage in protective, health-enhancing behaviors and avoid risky behaviors.

I believe that every child will succeed given the proper guidance, opportunity, tools, and relationships to help harvest their potential.  Showing invested interest in students will allow them to feel comfortable in an accepting and nurturing environment.  It is my hope that Coordinated School Health will play a small part in the success of our students through the work we produce.
