Tennessee Academic Standards

Academic standards provide a common set of expectations for what students will know and be able to do at the end of a grade. College and career-ready standards are rooted in the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in post-secondary study or careers.

TNReady

TNReady is the state’s TCAP test for English language arts, math, social studies and science, as well as alternative assessments like MSAA and TCAP-Alt, for students with special needs. It will provide us with more and better information about our students’ progress. The TNReady TCAP tests are designed to assess true student understanding and not just basic memorization and test-taking skills. TNReady will measure student understanding of our current state standards in English language arts, math, social studies, and science.

TNReady Blueprints

Assessment blueprints are designed to show educators a summary of what will be assessed in each grade, including the approximate number of items that will address each standard. Blueprints also detail which standards will be assessed on the subparts of TNReady.

Accountability

Tennessee’s accountability system is primarily focused on districts, which are measured on their abilities to raise overall achievement and close gaps between groups of students.

NAEP Results

The Nation's Report Card, NAEP, informs the public about what America's students know and can do in various subject areas and compares achievement between states, large urban districts, and various student demographic groups.

Report Card

A Profile page that includes student demographics as well as value-added composites, student achievement on state assessments, graduation rate, and ACT.

TVAAS

The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) measures the impact schools and teachers have on their students’ academic progress.
