The state of Tennessee defines an English Learner as a student with a non-English background who qualifies for English language support services. Lenoir City School District is about 18% Multilingual Learners with 32% at Lenoir City Elementary School, 25% at Lenoir City Intermediate Middle School, 9% at Lenoir City High School and 2% in iLearn. We are honored with the opportunity to serve such a diverse community of learners and their families. Each of our schools has a team of English Language Development teachers working with grade level and content teachers to support students in a variety of ways. You can find more information for each school from the menu on the left.
Mission
At Lenoir City Schools, our English Language Development programming is in place to support the diverse needs of our non–native English speaking students. Our goal is to have them prepared for their choice of college and career in an English-speaking country when they graduate high school. We use a variety of intervention plans to meet the needs of students from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
