Parents and students, please read the following information carefully as we will be conducting our annual Chromebook deployment and insurance payment process differently this July than we have in the past.
We will not be collecting student Chromebooks at the end of this school year; students will be allowed to take their Chromebook home over the summer. Many students will need their device for Summer Vacation Academies in grades K-8, as well as dual enrollment, online summer courses, and summer honors coursework at the high school. If a student’s computer is accidentally damaged over the summer, please bring the computer to the Lenoir City Schools Board of Education located at 200 East Broadway in downtown Lenoir City between 8-4 Monday through Friday. The Department of Technology can either repair the device onsite or send it off for repair and notify the family when we receive it back. If you move out of the district over the summer, please return your student computer and charger to the Lenoir City Board of Education Building. If you do not have the charger to return, there will be a $30 fee before you can withdraw.
Student Chromebook deployment will take place at Lenoir City High School this year for students attending all schools. While all families must complete the deployment process, the only students that need to physically attend deployment are students entering kindergarten, 3rd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade. An insurance charge of $35.00 will be assessed for each device. This insurance charge will cover any accidental damage to the Chromebook throughout the year. Families who wish to pay their $35.00 Chromebook warranty with a check or cash will also need to attend the deployment. All other students can complete the warranty purchase and sign all of the associated agreements online. You do not have to have a credit card to pay online. You can purchase a one time debit card at a local retail store to make the online payment of $35.
Students going into 3rd grade, 6th grade, and those entering 9th grade who attended Lenoir City Middle School, will need to turn in their current Chromebook and charger when they come to pick up their new device. If you have lost your charger, you will be assessed a $30 replacement fee.
Chromebook Deployment will be on July 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th from 9AM until 6 PM at Lenoir City High School. Please enter the front door to start the deployment process. All of the required student and parent Chromebook agreement forms as well as the required student handbook agreement will be part of the Returning Student Data Verification that families are also required to complete through their Skyward Family Access Accounts. Returning Student Data Verification will be opened in Skyward on July 7th, 2021. If you do not have a Skyward Family Access login, please contact your students' school by the end of the school year. After school is out for the summer you can email skyadm@lenoircityschools.net and your login credentials will be emailed to you allowing you to complete the Returning Student Data Verification Process.
We do have a new fast track option available this year at deployment. If you are picking up a Chromebook for a student in kindergarten, 3rd, 6th or 9th grade and you would like to complete this process quicker, you will need to pay your $35.00 Chromebook warranty online through your Skyward Family Access account. You will also need to complete the Returning Student Data Verification Form found in Skyward Family Access. If you do not know your login information for Skyward Family Access, contact:
The Family Resource Center (FRC) is open throughout the summer, and can also look up Skyward login information and do resets. You can contact the FRC at 865-986-0518 for service inEnglish, or 865-988-7256 for help in Spanish. FRC Summer hours are 9-3 Monday - Friday.
All of the Chromebook and student handbook agreement forms have been built into the Returning Student Online Data Verification.
Once you pay the warranty and complete the data verification, we will be able to pull those records from our data systems and fast track you to the end of the line where you can pick up your Chromebook.
If you intend to complete the fast track process but you have lost your Chromebook charger, you will need to purchase a $30 replacement charger in the Fee Management system found inside of your Skyward Family Access account.
Students who have not completed the Returning Student Data Verification and Chromebook Warranty Payment process by the last day of deployment will have their Chromebooks turned off and they will no longer have access to their devices.
